I was saddened by the news of Dr. Ramadan Xhema’s death.
I was fortunate to know Dr.Xhema for more than 30 years. He was a patriot and a good man.
Together with his brother, my good friend Jim Xhema, they were devoted not only to the freedom and independence of Kosova but to the Albanian cause as a whole.
Dr. Xhema came from a patriotic family in Presheva Valley. Born in December 17th 1936, in Tupallë, of Medvegja, he studied in Prishtina and then medicine in Croatia.
He was still a student when he was arrested for the first time by the Serbian/Yugoslavian police. Despite the political pressure he never stopped working for his nation.
In 1980, he moved to the United States where he continued his patriotic activity. We worked together with Jim and him, and many other friends in our community for more than 30 years.
Ramadan loved this nation, loved his family, and was ready to sacrifice everything for Kosova and the Albanian nation. He will be truly missed by everyone in this community.
My heart goes out to his brother Jim Xhema, with whom they shared the determination to work for the Albanian nation.
May God bless his soul! May God give strength to Jim and their family in this difficult time.
Rest in peace, Dr Xhema!
