New Yorkers massed Friday at Foley Square and the Barclays Center to protest police brutality after the death of George Floyd, who died Monday after a white Minneapolis cop pressed his knee into the 46-year-old black man’s neck.

Outrage over the incident, caught on video, sparked protests across a nation already gripped by a pandemic.

Our team captured images from the Manhattan and Brooklyn demonstrations, where some wore cloth face masks emblazoned with the words “I can’t breathe” — said by both Floyd and Eric Garner, who died at the hands of the NYPD in Staten Island six years ago.
