“RIT Kosova (A.U.K) invites one and all to share in Dr. Rahim’s personal and professional message. Not only do we have a capable scholar selected on technical merit, Dr. Rahim’s personal story is extraordinary and inspiring, especially for societies, like ours in Kosova, that have recently emerged from war and ethnic conflict,” says Daniel Cosentino, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Director of RIT Kosova Academic Programs.
In his book, “Resilience: From Killing Fields to Boardroom,” Dr. Emad Rahim writes, “Salt has always been highly regarded as a preservative and flavor enhancer and in some cultures it was even considered a form of currency. Salt is also essential for digestion, proper nerve transmission and is found in our blood, sweat, and tears – our bodies need salt to survive.”
Dr. Rahim is a genocide survivor and refugee of the Khmer Rouge Killing Fields of Cambodia, developed the S.A.L.T. model of Surviving, Adapting, Loving and Transforming as a means of helping him over the struggles of his youth, including prejudice, abuse, childhood violence, and dyslexia. His book invites the reader on an inner journey of transformation, sharing how S.A.L.T. was a necessary component along the way. He learned to turn tragedy into triumph and ultimately wrote this book to teach other to use the S.A.L.T. model to navigate the difficult challenges everyone encounters in live.
RIT Kosova (A.U.K) community is honored to have Dr. Rahim here as a visiting Fulbright Scholar. The Fulbright Scholarship Program is one of the most prestigious scholarships in the world. It’s an American program of competitive, merit-based grants for international educational exchange for students, scholars, teachers, professionals, scientists and artists.
His childhood experiences and meteoric rise to the top as a scholar and college administrator in the United States makes for an impressive, comprehensive, and pragmatic approach to any scholarly project in higher education.
Furthermore, Dr. Rahim’s list of honors and awards is outstanding. Highlights include his advanced post-doctoral credentials from Harvard University, Tulane University, and the University of Maryland University College. In addition, he earned a Doctorate of Management and two graduate degrees in business from Colorado Technical College and he completed his undergraduate education at SUNY Empire State College.
RIT Kosova (A.U.K) President, Dr. Sharon Y. Hart, said, “I am very pleased that we’ve been able to have Dr. Emad Rahim on our campus for these three weeks as a Fulbright Scholar. His expertise in developing programs, especially at the Master’s level in business, is especially valuable to us.
