Based on his experience and qualities, Julio Rodriguez III would be a great Justice of the New York State Supreme Court and we are proud to endorse him.

A proud New Yorker who has dedicated his life to public service, he is already serving as Acting Justice of the Supreme Court, since the summer of 2018. He has distinguished himself for five years as a Judge of the NYC Criminal Court. He was assigned to Bronx County where he presided in the Criminal Court’s domestic violence part for several years. In 2017, Judge Rodriguez was appointed Deputy Supervising Judge for Bronx County Criminal Court.

In 2012, Judge Rodriguez was appointed Interim Judge of the Civil Court by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Throughout his professional life he has been a dedicated public servant committed to the betterment of our communities.

Julio Rodriguez III

For Justice of the NYS Supreme Court on Tuesday, November 6 Judge Julio Rodriguez III is a proud New Yorker with a lifelong commitment to public service. The eldest of three siblings, he was born and raised in New York City (NYC). A product of NYC public schools, Judge Rodriguez graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies with cum laude distinction from the City University of New York (CUNY) John Jay College of Criminal Justice, becoming the first in his family to graduate college. In 1998, Judge Rodriguez earned his Juris Doctorate from Temple Law School, where he placed dean’s list and served as Vice President for the Latino Law Students Association.

After law school, Judge Rodriguez joined the New York County District Attorney’s Office, being appointed Assistant District Attorney by the Honorable Robert M. Morgenthau. In 2002, Judge Rodriguez joined the NYC Department of Investigation and shortly after became Inspector General for the NYC Department of Juvenile Justice. In 2006, he was appointed Administrative Law Judge with the NYC Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH), where he was later named Deputy Commissioner for OATH and Executive Director of the Environmental Control Board.

In 2012, Judge Rodriguez was appointed Interim Judge of the Civil Court by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and one year later, he was appointed Judge of the NYC Criminal Court. Since his appointment, Judge Rodriguez has been assigned to Bronx County where he presided in the Criminal Court’s domestic violence part for several years. In 2017, Judge Rodriguez was appointed Deputy Supervising Judge for Bronx County Criminal Court and he served in that capacity until the summer of 2018, when he was appointed to serve in his current role as Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court.

Judge Rodriguez is a member of several associations, including the Puerto Rican Bar, Dominican Bar, and Bronx County Bar Associations. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Latino Judges Association and is chairperson of the Board’s subcommittee for community service. In addition, Judge Rodriguez is an Assistant Adjunct Professor at CUNY’s Hostos Community College, where he teaches courses in criminal justice and law enforcement. Judge Rodriguez is married to Michelle Flores-Rodriguez, who has also dedicated her career to public service and works with the NYS Education Department. They live in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx with their two sons.
